About Me.

kate bailey, counsellor

Hello and welcome! As a therapist, I’m passionate about supporting women with the unique challenges we face. From relationships to postpartum challenges, I can help you navigate the emotional complexities of various life transitions.

My passion for reproductive mental health began when I worked with pregnant and parenting adolescents in an intensive care setting. Since then, I have dedicated my career to supporting women throughout the reproductive years and with the many factors that influence a woman’s well-being across the lifespan. I am particularly interested in working with women adjusting to motherhood, those navigating complex family dynamics, and those coping with grief and loss. I’ve also had the privilege of witnessing women have the courage to overcome and heal from their trauma.

Outside of my practice, I am a loving partner, a pet momma, a friend, and the eldest of three siblings. In my spare time, you can find me walking my pup, traveling, or dancing my heart out at a dance studio. Moving in a way that feels intuitive to me has gotten me through many tough moments, especially through the pandemic. As Meredith Grey and Cristina Yang say: “We have to dance it out, that’s how we finish.”

My approach to therapy.

I will always strive to follow your lead. My role is to create a space for you to discover unique solutions within yourself. Some of the therapeutic modalities I might use in our sessions are:

  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

  • Relational therapy

  • Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a complement to talk therapy in order to process and overcome trauma.

I will always keep you informed about what we are doing and why, involve you in the decision-making process, and answer any questions you may have.

With a focus on your unique needs as a woman, we’ll find a way for you to thrive that allows you to show up as the best version of yourself. Whether you’re dealing with stress and anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, or perinatal distress, I will provide a safe and supportive space to explore and process your story.

We will work together to better understand you and your experiences. By identifying patterns and behaviours that no longer serve you, we can develop new coping strategies. '

As a therapist, I believe that with greater self-acceptance, you can lead a fulfilling and meaningful life.
